Surrounded by nature – forests, meadows, rocky hills and a small river called Pegnitz – the Rupprechtstegen retirement and nursing residence is located in a beautiful spot. The therapeutic garden, invested in 2011, invites the visitor to linger and to be active.
Even the two buildings radiate harmony: Straight-forward shapes, natural materials, special coloured guiding system and balanced illumination without strong shadows. Of particular importance is the nursing refuge for six intensive nursing patients with dementia, which opened in 2011 as part of a pilot project. The nursing home has space for 151 patients in double or single bedrooms, 74 of which are safeguarded living unit places with clear building shapes.
The innovative architecture and interior design alongside individual nursing and care are the key concepts. Required was a biologically effective illumination solution that would support the day-night rhythm of those residents suffering from dementia. On the other hand, the furniture as well was supposed to be adapted to the needs of both the residents and the personnel.
A large daylight area in the nursing refuge naturally stimulates the residents. The biodynamic light management system VISUAL TIMING LIGHT (VTL, resembling Human Centric Lighting) support the natural light. It incorporates the latest scientific findings on the effect of light on humans. The AMADEA illumination adapts automatically in light colour and intensity. The cool colour tone in the morning activates and stimulates the residents, while the warm colour tone supports relaxation and rest periods. Alongside the biodynamic features of the AMADEA an examination and night lamp supports nursing and medical care for the residents.
AMADEA suspended luminaires and VANERA room luminaires ensure uniform and glare-free light distribution in the therapeutic centre. Economic VANERA Eco luminaires safely illuminate the staircase.
